EC to discuss voluntary sustainability biofuels schemes May 27 2011
The European Commission will hold a meeting in Brussels on May 27 to discuss with EU member states the adoption of voluntary sustainability schemes for biofuels, Ron Van Erck from the EC's Directorate-General for Energy told Platts Friday.
Future Perfect helps Lantmännen meet the sustainability criteria for biofuel and the Renewable Energy Directive
On 1 January this year the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive for biofuels came into force, which included criteria for the sustainable production of biofuels including bio-ethanol.
In 2010, Sweden’s largest grain trading organisations, Lantmännen Agroetanol and Lantmännen Lantbruk worked intensively with Future Perfect, to ensure that they would be ready and able to meet these criteria. A spokesman for the company stated that “Lantmännen welcomes these new regulations and in 2010 a third-party inspection was carried out on our supply chain to ensure that it meets the required sustainability criteria.”
Announcement of transitional measure: EU ETS registry system
As of today, 19 January 2011, 19:00 Central European Time, the European Commission will suspend transactions, except for allocation and surrender of allowances, in all EU ETS registries at least until 26 January 2011, 19:00 Central European Time.
South Korea Starts Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verifier Accreditation Programme with Future Perfect as the only approved specialist training provider
The National Institute of Environmental Human Resources Development are responding to the South Korea’s new GHG accounting and verification legislation which was publicly announced in December 2010. They are ensuring that only accredited verifiers can respond to the imminent need to perform third-party verification.
