Clutterbuck Associates Partnering with UnLtd
- Supporting Social Entrepreneurs

UnLtd (the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs) is a national organisation with a mission to unleash the energies of people who can transform the world in which they live. UnLtd supports individuals who have the potential to make positive change in the world around them. It is a unique and dynamic organisation, helping people create change at grass-roots level and is the world’s largest network of its kind, supporting around 1,000 social entrepreneurs each year.

UnLtd provides a package of support to individual social entrepreneurs, which includes cash funding, direct one-to-one support from an UnLtd Development Manager and access to a network of pro bono volunteers and mentors, called UnLtd Connect.

UnLtd Connect volunteers give their time and expertise to UnLtd’s network of social entrepreneurs by offering one-to-one mentoring, pro bono legal support, facilitation of workshops and presentations and sitting on panel discussion groups.

Partnering with Clutterbuck Associates

In order to offer support to the mentors on this programme, UnLtd Connect set up a partnership with Clutterbuck Associates in 2010 to develop UnLtd’s “A Guide to Mentoring a Social Entrepreneur”.

Clutterbuck Associates provided a consultancy service to UnLtd, offering excellent guidance on the content of the guide and delivering training sessions for UnLtd Connect mentors which complemented the guide and helped refine its contents.

In addition, Clutterbuck Associates gave the practical support to design and produce a user-friendly and attractive Guide, which is now available to volunteers in hard copy and online formats.

Understanding UnLtd

Clutterbuck Associates really took the time to get to know UnLtd and understand the world of social entrepreneurs. In particular, the training sessions incorporated real life examples of the challenges facing social entrepreneurs. By training volunteers from one of UnLtd’s Corporate Partners, Actis, as well as individuals in the network, Clutterbuck were better able to understand the target audience of the guide. The training sessions themselves were practical and challenging and very well received by both new and experienced mentors.

It has been a real pleasure to work with Clutterbuck Associates. Particular thanks must go to Dawn Oakley from General Physics; during the editing of UnLtd’s “A Guide to Mentoring a Social Entrepreneur”, she has been extremely obliging, flexible and invaluable in her approach to ensuring UnLtd Connect have the best guide possible for the mentors on their programme.
